Atsiaktonkie - Turtle Clan

Hailing from the Kanienkehaka (ga-yun-gay-ha-ga) Territory meaning people of the flint, Atsiaktonkie (ah-jeeak-doon-gee-ay) is more then a singer-songwriter; he is a charismatic performer who invites listeners to embark on a spiritual journey through the power of music.

A self-taught musician who is versatile in guitar, piano, harmonica, drums, bass guitar, hand drum, and flute, Atsiaktonkie is most widely known as the singer-songwriter for the band December Wind and has been delighting audiences of 500-1500 people across the country with his Native Alternative Folk Rock for over 10 years

Now with over 1500 songs to his credit, nomination for four Native Music Awards, as well as two highly acclaimed CD’s Sacred Voices (Canyon Records) and Second Wind (Strong Wind Records), Atsiaktonkie has become a highly respected in-demand international trendsetter in the Native Alternative Folk Rock genre.

Residing on the Akwesasne (Mohawk) Territory nestled between New York and Canada, Atsiaktonkie has managed to maintain a wide fan base stretching the country nationwide especially in the southwestern states and international throughout Canada. He even caught the attention of Neil Young who sent Atsiaktonkie the song “The Treaty” to record.

“When Neil Young sent me the song, I wasn’t spiritually ready to record it,” said Atsiaktonkie. “However I did recently start working on the song, and I am very excited to hear what Neil Young thinks once it is finished.”

On his latest solo project Four Wolves Prophecy; Atsiaktonkie is once again an innovator in the folk genre by incorporating elements of country and Americana mixed with vocals reminiscent of Michael Stripe and Neil Young, moving lyrics, and harmonious melodies. His music has garnered such comments as "The most beautiful music I ever heard," "I simply must buy this CD," "Every cut is a gem," "Just incredible,” and “Top-notch.”
